Project Description

Project Brief

Back in 2014, my wife and I set out to design our “forever home”. We chose the classic Craftsman Bungalow for our style of Architecture. We faithfully designed our home around the numerous 120+ year old signature catalog floor plans commonly built throughout America from the 1900’s-1930’s. While it remains true to its predecessors’ in overall layout and design, its floor plan has been tastefully updated to suit modern families with modern lifestyles. At 2800 square feet of air conditioned/heated space and 400 square feet of covered porches, this two-story home boasts four bedrooms, three full bathrooms, one powder room (half bath), an office/study, mudroom, laundry room and an upstairs den.

The home took approximately a year to design and over four years to build (many aspects of the interior are still in progress). We general contracted the licensed contractors and, as a family, built the remaining 70- 75% of the house. This includes its mortise and tenon African Mahogany exterior doors, masonry fireplace and horizontal cedar slat fence. All exterior and interior finish work (siding, trim, painting, etc.) were completed by a combination of myself and one or more family members.

It became apparent throughout the process that our house drew quite the crowd of admirers.  I’ve been asked (more times than I can count) by builders and home shoppers if our architectural drawings were available to purchase. And, somewhere along the process of building, I finally decided that they should be. Ultimately, living in the house and realizing I want to change nothing about the layout, solidified my decision.

The goal of Tokoly Home is to sell our original Craftsman Bungalow architectural/construction drawings. In addition to selling my house plans, it is my goal to continue to expand on the core floor plan with multiple options for elevations, wide lot variations and basement plans. I will also be offering my extensive set of interior elevations, door shop drawings and many extras (ex. my fence and gates shop drawings).

I hope to launch the completed eCommerce website in Spring 2020.
