CARVING VISE “HI-VISE” PLANS
This is a traditionally designed Carving Vise or "hi-vise" as some like to call it. I've added a few of my own design improvements, the first being a sliding dovetail joint for the lower screw arm for strength and simplicity. I've also taken the opportunity to complicate the upper arms with a tasteful dovetail box joint to close off the rear of the vise (hiding the screw) and support an attractive and useful shelf (if I do say so myself). Lastly, the vise jaws on my design are interchangeable to allow for purpose built jaws and to replace worn jaws when needed. Purpose built jaws give the vise more utility as they can be used for clamping parts based on their specific shapes and sizes.
